Lea's Hamburgers

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 pounds ground beef
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 cup bread crumbs
  • 1/4 cup bacon bits
  • garlic salt to taste
  • 4 hamburger buns, split and toasted

Directions

  1. Preheat an outdoor grill for high heat.
  2. In a medium bowl, mix together the ground beef, onion, egg, bread crumbs, and bacon bits. Season with garlic salt. (I like to use a lot.) Divide into four balls, and pat into patties.
  3. Lightly oil the grate, and place patties onto the grill. Cook for about 5 minutes per side, or until firm and no longer pink in the center. Serve on toasted buns with your favorite hamburger toppings.

Fancy Hamburgers

Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1/2 cup diced onion
  • 2/3 cup chunky salsa
  • 1/2 cup ketchup
  • 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 cup quick cooking oats
  • salt and pepper to taste

Directions

  1. In a medium bowl, mix ground beef, diced onion, chunky salsa, ketchup, brown sugar, egg, oats, salt and pepper. Form the mixture into patties.
  2. In a medium skillet over medium heat, fry patties 4 to 5 minutes per side, or to desired doneness.

Barbequed Hamburgers

Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1/2 cup uncooked rolled oats
  • 2/3 cup evaporated milk
  • 2 tablespoons minced onion
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 4 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tablespoons vinegar
  • 4 teaspoons granulated sugar
  • 2/3 cup ketchup
  • 1/4 cup chopped onion
  • 3 tablespoons vegetable oil

Directions

  1. In a medium bowl, mix the ground beef, oats, milk, 2 tablespoons minced onion, salt, and pepper. Let stand for a few minutes until milk is absorbed, and shape into 8 patties.
  2. In a small bowl, thoroughly mix the Worcestershire sauce, vinegar, sugar, ketchup, and 1/4 cup chopped onion; set aside.
  3. Heat the oil in a medium skillet over medium heat, and fry the patties until brown on both sides. Pour the sauce in with the patties, and reduce heat. Continue cooking about 15 minutes.

Hamburgers by Eddie

Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 egg
  • 2 teaspoons minced garlic
  • 1 tablespoon steak sauce (e.g. A-1), or to taste

Directions

  1. Preheat an outdoor grill for high heat.
  2. In a medium bowl, mix together the ground beef, egg, and garlic. Mix in steak sauce until mixture is sticky feeling. Form into 3 or 4 balls, and flatten into patties.
  3. Grill for about 10 minutes, turning once, or to your desired degree of doneness. The internal temperature should be at 180 degrees F (82 degrees C) when taken with a meat thermometer. Serve on buns with the usual trimmings.
